Image Rotator Options
Image Rotator Options are variables to control both behavior and appearance of the Image Rotator.
The basics
- height (320): Sets the overall height of the player/rotator.
- width (260): Sets the overall width of the player/rotator.
- transition (random): Only for the rotator. Sets the transition to use between images. The default, random, randomly pick a transition. To restrict to a certain transition, use these values: fade, bgfade, blocks, bubbles, circles, flash, fluids, lines or slowfade.
Image XML List
We use a XSPF format XML file to store the image list, you can made your own image list by modifying this list.
The colors
- backcolor (0xFFFFFF): Backgroundcolor of the controls, in HEX format.
- frontcolor (0x000000): Texts & buttons color of the controls, in HEX format.
- lightcolor (0x000000): Rollover color of the controls, in HEX format.
- screencolor (0x000000): Color of the display area, in HEX format. With the rotator, change this to your HTML page's color make images of different sizes blend nicely.
Display appearance
- logo (undefined): Set this to an image that can be put as a watermark logo in the top right corner of the display. Transparent PNG files give the best results (example).
- overstretch (false): Sets how to stretch images/movies to make them fit the display. The default stretches to fit the display. Set this to true to stretch them proportionally to fill the display, fit to stretch them disproportionally and none to keep original dimensions.
- showeq (false): Set this to true to show a (fake) equalizer at the bottom of the display. Nice for MP3 files.
- showicons (true): Set this to false to hide the activity icon and play button in the middle of the display.
Controlbar appearance
- shownavigation (true): Set this to false to completely hide the controlbar.
Playback behaviour
- audio (undefined): Assigns an additional, synchronized MP3. Use this for a closed audio description or director's comments with the mediaplayer or background music with the rotator. When using the mediaplayer and a playlist, you can assign audio to every entry.
- autostart (false for player, true for rotator): Set this to true in the player to automatically start playing when the page loads, or set this to false with the rotator to prevent the automatic rotation.
- repeat (false): Set this to true to automatically repeat playback of all files. Set this to list to playback an entire playlist once.
- rotatetime (5): Sets the number of seconds an image is played back.
- shuffle (false):Set this to true to playback a playlist in random order.
- volume (80): sets the startup volume for playback of sounds, movies and audiotracks.
External communication
- enablejs (false): Not for the wmvplayer (which is already entirely JS). Set this to true to enable javascript interaction. This'll only work online! Javascript interaction includes playback control, asynchroneous loading of media files and return of track information. More info at this demo page.
- javascriptid (undefined): If you interact with multiple mediaplayers/rotators in javascript, use this flashvar to give each of them a unique ID. More info at this demo page.
- linkfromdisplay (false): Set this to true to make a click on the display result in a jump to the webpage assigned to the link flashvar.
- linktarget (_self): Set this to the frame you want hyperlinks to open in. Set it to _blank to open links in a new window or _top to open in the top frame.

This thing is all kinds of spiffy, and comparable in function to similar mods people are charging $50 or more for. This can't be beaten. Thank you for releasing it!

Q:
Hello Nicolas,
This is a great little module. I have version 2.
Do you have an upgrade?
Thank you so much.
A:

Q:
Hi.
Is the navigation and file information at the bottom of the demo pictures optional?
I am looking for something like this tool to use for rotiation of small graphics like thumbnail size and can't fit in such extras.
Also, is it possible to find a trial version of this module anywhere?
Thanks
A:
Hi,
The navigation and file information bar can be set to not display.
I can publish a trial version if you glad to try it. it will take one or two day to finish it.

Q:
Hello
Is possible to have each image in the playlistwith its own external link? How can we do that?
A:
Hi, please enter the "Edit ImageRotator options" page and set "Link From Display: " under "External Commnunication:" section as "true". After that, when you click the image, it will take you to the URL filled in <info> field in image XML list file.
I found the "Link From Display" setting does not work in version 2.1 and before, I have fixed this bug and uploaded the 2.1.1 version to snowcovered. you can download it directly in snowcovered if you buy this module before.

Q:
Hi -
I am interested in purchasing your module. Can you tell if I can have more than a couple of rotated photos? I would like to install 5 of them.
Also, I want to use your module in the banner of my website. I want to make sure that the flash module goes behind the dropdown menu bar - not in front of it.
Thank you.
Jane
A:
Hi, Thanks for the interesting! this module supports multi-instance and you can insert as many as you like in one page or in many pages.
One issue about multi-instance is that this module uses one image XML list file for each instance, currently, 10 XML list files have been seeded, if you need more, just make a copy under Flash folder. If you meet problem when you use it, please contact me, I will help you.
Flash rotator stays behind drop down list and would not in front of it.

Q:
I'm looking for a Flash Image Rotator that supports background transparency in my images. I have images that have transparent portions, and I want the web page background to show through the player and images. Can you confirm that your player will support this?
A:
Hi, It supports this. I worte a blog entry for this topic: http://www.aboutdnn.com/Blog/tabid/76/entryid/171/Rotating-transparent-Text-PNG-files-using-Flash-Image-Rotator.aspx

Q:
I must be dense. My pics are in portal root\photos\dresses
I can't find where to point to that location...Help and thanks
A:
For example, your DNN website address is http://www.yourportal.com, one image named "001.jpg" is under the "root\photos\dresses" folder. I assume "root" in the path you provided indicates "the root folder of DNN website", you can access the image by this URL: http://www.yourportal.com/photos/dresses/001.jpg. Could you provide your website address? I can test for you. You can contact me by email. Nicholas.lu.mail@gmail.com

Q:
If the images are too big with they be resized to the correct aspect ratio to fit within the space?
A:
Yes, it will be resized. Default behavior of this module is resizeing the image and keep aspect ratio.
You can modify the "Over Stretch" setting at "Display Appearance" section. there are four options. "false(default)", "true", "fit", "none".

Q:
I've noticed that in your Edit Image XML List url that it appears you have a playlist accessing some code from an outside url such as <playlist version="1" xmlns="http://xspf.org/ns/0/">
Is this required?
I'm on a very secure network that doesn't allow any external url accessing. How would you recommend working around the need to access an external URL
I'm real eager to test this module out because it looks GREAT... i'm just not able to access external urls from my location. Please Advise.
A:
The URL you see in XML file is not a real URL, it's XML namespace, this mean it just a mark and WOULD NOT cause any external network access, so it's OK to use this module in your environment.

Q:
Hi, I'm having a problem directing the module to my files. Can anyone tell me where to place the photos? Or what directory the module creates? I have uploaded the correct size (200x200 pix) files and the module is not finding them. Any suggestions?
A:
Hi, you should upload the image to your DNN website at any place then modify the configuration at XML file list.
For example, you upload a photo.jpg to portal/0 folder of you DNN website, you should enter the option edit interface of Flash Image Rotator module, find the "Edit Image XML List" seciton, then, find the <location> section in XML file, modify the content in <location> section to, for example, <location>http://www.youdomain.com/portals/0/photo.jpg.</location>. after you click "update", you will see this module will load the photo.jpg and display it.

Q:
Can you let me know when you can modify this module for multiple instances. I want to be able to display different slideshows on different pages... at the moment the module seems to share settings across all instances.
Thanks
Simon
A:
Hi Simon,
New version supports multi-instance is in beta now.
