The idea behind this module is to give your users an easy mechanism to retrieve their username for the portal. This functionality is a huge boon in helping to provide an accessible website.
The module simply presents the end user of the site with one button, which can be configured by the site owner. The optimum placement for this button is directly below the standard “Login” control.

This allows editing of the email message that will be sent to users who have requested their username.
There are a couple of variables which can be used in the Email which will be replaced, at the time the email is sent, with actual values. These are;
#Username#. This value will be replaced with the Username(s) retrieved matching the Email address entered.
#PortalName#. This will be replaced with the name of the Portal as indicated in the Site Settings.
#PortalAlias#. This will be replaced with the web site address for the portal. Eg. www.yoursite.com.
#PortalAdmin# This will be replaced with the name for the portal administrator role. Eg. Administrators.
Note: For composing emails targeting plain text it is better to use the “Basic Text Box” editor within DotNetNuke.
The module will, if required, log all events to the DotNetNuke Event Log. Logging can be enabled in the module settings
Once logging is enabled, each request for a forgotten username will be logged to the DNN Log Viewer
The module is fully integrated with DotNetNuke localization. You can change the values in the supplied “.resx” files to alter any text displayed on the UI. Refer to the DotNetNuke Localization documentation for a more in depth discussion of this excellent functionality.
Supports DotNetNuke module portability interface. Allows for module content, (Email message), to be exported and imported between modules.

Nice simple module. Does the job. Text on the send username screen is fully customizable, as is the email body. I have installed on DNN 4.5.5 with no issues.

Great module, one of these small details that Dotnetnuke core forgot about, but makes a big difference in useability.
The developer responded right away to a bug report and fixed prompty.

One minor issue with alignment which they fixed same day. Does exactly what it says it does.

In the case of more than one user name being associated with a single email address. Each user name will be listed in the response, that is, the email response from the module will contain "ALL" usernames listed to that email address. Thanks.

Q:
I recently purchased this module. Where can I edit the "forgotUsername" module title on the resulting page after Forgot Username? is clicked.
This is the module title that appears above the sentence "Enter the Email Address that you registered with in the box below and we'll send you any usernames registered to that address."
Please provide instructions for editing this value.
A:
Hi Tim, I have implemented the DotNetNuke "Localization" interface in this module. This means that all the strings used in the module are held in xml files. It is possible to amend any text used in the module or implement another language etc by editing these files.
The specific value you are after will be in the "sendUsername.ascx.resx" file. You can change values in this file and then re-upload the PA, including the amended version of the RESX file. This should accomplish the desired change.
The RESX files are XML. It is possible to edit in Notepad or any text editor, also Visual Studio.Net has some additional capabilities which make it even simpler to edit this type of file.
Cheers,
John

Q:
I have my own login control and I would like merge your code into my control. Is source code available?
Thanks
Mike
A:
Hi Mike, Thanks for the question. Currently the source code is not available for our products. I am sure we could work something out between us, however. We could perform the integration as a custom job or provide code "snippets" to your specifications.

Q:
Does this module work with DNN 4.3.5?
A:
Yes, this module does work with 4.3.5. Included in the distribution are two PA's, one targeted for 3.3.5/4.3.5 using the DotNetNuke core functions. The other will work with 3.3.5/4.3.5 and previous versions but will add an additional stored procedure which is not required with 3.3.5/4.3.5.
