Finally a way to add version control to your Text/HTML Modules!
How many times have you edited a Text / HTML module, only to mess something up. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to "undo" those editing changes? Or how about the ability to save work in progress versions before releaseing them to the public?
Well, now you can! The Text/HTML Versioner automatically creates a version archive of edits and changes made. It also allows saving work in progress versions and reverting to previous versions of Text/HTML. This way you can save your changes to your Text/HTML module before you release them to the general public. This also allows you to revert to previous versions in the event that you need to. You can use this as a replacement of the Text/HTML Module.
Features:
-
New - Upgraded to ASP.NET 2.0 (Requires DNN 4.X)
-
New - In place editing added
-
New - Dynamic user information can be embedded and displayed via the module at runtime via tokens
-
New - Script included to migrate your existing DotNetNuke Text / HTML modules to the Versioner replacement
- Set the number of versions to keep
- Can serve as replacement of core Text/HTML module
- Provides the same functionality of the core Text/HTML and more
- Versions are saved automatically upon update
- Saving work in progress versions allows editing and saving before releasing
- Quickly load previous versions in the editor in the event you need to "undo" your changes
- Works with whatever HTML Provider you have specified as the default
This module has been tested on DotNetNuke 4.X and includes a SQL Data Provider.

Ask a Question
|
Q:
Hi - is this compatible and tested with DNN v494 (latest version)? Any issues?
Is the price per installation, or unlimited?
Thanks!
A:
It is licensed for 4.X and it is licensed per DNN instance (e.g. DNN install).

Q:
Is this module an extended Text/HTML module? When I buy it do I have to copy from my existing Text/HTML data to this one or will it integrate itself automatically to Text/HTML module? And when someone edits a module will it email to an admin that a recent change was made?
Thanks.
A:
This module can replace the existing text/html module in dnn. There is a script which can be used to migrate existing text/html content to this new module. Right now, no email alerts are setup, but this is a feature we could look to add.

Q:
What DNN tokens does it support? Specifically, I need to use the core's Profile tokens (i.e. profile fields that I have added). Thanks.
A:
Current version supports FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME, USERNAME, FULLNAME and USERID, what other tokens would you use?

|
Q:
Can your module track what User made edits? I have several Users that make edits to the test. It would be great if I can seperate out edits by User(UserID) logged into website. Thanks, Richard
A:
Yes, it stamps the userid that made the change and the date / time the change was made.

|
Q:
Does it integrate with Dotnetnuke search?
A:
Yes, it supports the search interface, import and export as well.
|
|
Q:
Is this compatible with FCKeditor?
A:
Yes, it uses the default text provider you are using in your DNN install. It has been tested with FCK and CuteEditor and should work with all others as well.

Q:
I have so many clients asking for this, very happy to see the Text HTML Versioner 2.0 released! I have a few questions:
1) Does it install over the exisiting module? Or it is a separate TEXT/HTML module that must be selectivey employed?
2) Once installed, does it immediatelly take effect on all existing modules? Across all pages and TEXT/HTML modules.
3) If installing today, all versions become 1.0 and subequent edits then participate in the version control?
4) Does it have to be installed on a new DNN site, or can it be installed on one already with hubdreds of pages?
A:
1) Yes, it does install over the existing module. The big thing to keep in mind here is that you must have DNN 4.X since it is a complete rewrite in Asp.NET 2.0 and uses the new quickedit feature in DNN.
2) It does take effect immediately on all modules after activation.
3) Your previous versions are maintained and kept.
4) It can be installed into an existing site, HOWEVER, as with all installations, it is a very good practice to install in a test environment first and make sure you take a backup of the file system and database prior to doing the install.
