Flash Media Gallery 3.8 for Dnn
1. Introduction
       This module is mainly based on Flash Media Gallery v2.0 component(http://flashnifties.com/media_gallery.php). It utilizes the Flash Media Gallery v2.0 component advantages to let you to quickly create a multi-category gallery and display images, videos, text and swf files along with music. The gallery will automatically scan a specified folder, picking up all the relevant files and build the navigation for you. With over 100 settings, you can make the gallery a unique expression of your own personal tastes.

        It supports media files like:
       1: Image (jpg,jpeg,png)
       2: Flash video (flv)
       3: Mp3 music (mp3)
       4: Flash movie (swf)
       5: Text/html(txt,html,htm).

       Besides local media files, module also allows you play external media items or
create external links. In “External Media" section, create an xml document anywhere within your directory structure will let you insert external media item into gallery.

3. Media Gallery Module Featues 

     3.1. Unlimited Levels of Categories/Sub-categories
    There is no limit to the number of categories, or levels of sub-categories.

     3.2 Video, images, music ,flash & more
     Display galleries of images, videos, text pages, flash movies and play music all with one flash. Besides local media files, module also allows you add external media items or
create external links.

     3.3 Fully Customizable
     Every color, font, width, height, transparency, is controlled by a “flash settings” section.

     3.4 Template based
     Both Media Gallery and Gallery Category view interface are template based. You can customize your  own display template, change item  layout or add additional information as your wish. Note, you need be familiar with .net syntax to customize your own template.


     3.5 Generate gallery on the fly
     There are two ways to save gallery configurations.The default is “Dynamic Generate”,which means whenever your media file(or directory) is changed,it will automatic refresh in the flash.It makes things more easy because all you need to do is select a root media folder , and then maintain folder structure and files through other tools(like ftp software), gallery will automatic changed.
      If your media files changed infrequency,there is another option “Save To Disk“ ,it retireves gallery more fast but it needs you manually click “Finish” button to refresh if media is changed. 


      3.6 Unlimited Images with paging, thumbnail and smart loading.

      3.7 Organization
      You can also omit a number of characters from the beginning of all your files/folders so that you can control the order in which they appear in the gallery. So "01_Album" will show up as "Album" 

      3.8 Powerful yet easy to use
      Uses the asp.net 2.0 wizard control to easily guide you step by step. All you need to do is follow the wizard, click “previous” or “next”. It’s as easy as ABC.

      3.9 Localization support and online help support
     All settings are self-explanatory utilizing the standard DNN help menu system.

5.  Gallery Category Featue Detail

    “Gallery Category” is an independent module which provides category list navigation for media gallery module instance.   Each category corresponds a folder under portal site. It has properties like title, image, and description. Click category item will display images under this folder ( including its sub directories ) on media gallery module instance. This module can be put on the same page with media gallery module instance, or put on different page ( In this case you need specify which page the media gallery module instance exists ).

    This sub module is very useful when you have multiple galleries. In previous edition you need add different photo gallery instance for each gallery. Now you only need one instance by using “Gallery Category” sub module. 
 
     Customize url parameter supported
     Besides using “Gallery Category” module, you can also customize your own url parameters by provider  “FolderId” and “GalleryTitle” parameters.  For example, if media gallery module instance  is http://www.DnnModules.cn/tabid/300/default.aspx, and you have a folder which id is 700, then input http://www.DnnModules.cn/tabid/300/FolderId/700/default.aspx   will display medias under this folder,  and http://www.DnnModules.cn/tabid/300/FolderId/700/GalleryTitle/Ok/default.aspx, will display medias and change module title as “OK”.

7. Before you buy
     Please be aware of the followings before you buy this module.

     (1)This module is based on Flash Nifties(http://www.flashnifties.com/) Flash Media Gallery v2.0 component. The flash file(Flash Media Gallery v2.0 component) doesn’t include in module package due to license agreement. You need visit http://flashnifties.com/media_gallery.php to download flash file separately. They offer a free version which has all the functionality with full license version, but includes a small link to this site.

     (2)Module will ignore dnn specific folders, like skins,containers, cache, you can't select these folder as media gallery.

      (3) Images need to be in a folder of their own (album) ,You can't have separate images mixed with other content, only albums.

     (4) Images album can't display sub-folders , so ,don't create sub-folders under image album.

     (5)Besides local media files, module also allows you play external media items. In "External Media" section, create an xml document anywhere within your directory structure will let you insert external media item into gallery.

     (6)Categories (and files) are retrieved alphabetical. You can manually change this by add prefix. For example, if you have two albums, BAlbum, CAlbum, you can change their order by change their name as 01CAlbum,02BAlbum, and set "Omit Folder Char" to 2, then their order will be 01CAlbum,02BAlbum but their name will be CAlbum,BAlbum, the first two letter is removed. The same steps can be applied to image and other files.

      (7)Although module can retrieve text/html files (txt,htm,html), we strongly recommend use this to display brief documents(like copyright, introduction, etc) .And currently module can only display English documents well.
