The open platform allows DotNetNuke to function as both a content management system (CMS) and application development framework. DotNetNuke allows your organization to leverage your existing Microsoft investments to create rich, highly interactive web sites and web applications.

The DotNetNuke Professional Edition includes features which are not available in the free Community Edition. The additional features ensure success for organizations running critical web sites and web applications. Built on the same open source core as the Community Edition, which powers over 600,000 web sites worldwide, the Professional Edition provides the features and services you expect from a proprietary solution including:

The Professional Edition web content management system and application development platform  includes features which are not available in the Community Edition:

• Advanced Content Approval Process – Administrators can create custom workflows with an unlimited number of states and reviewers. Workflows can be for individual module content changes or for changes to any modules on a page.
• Document Management -- A full document management solution which allows your organization to store, control and view documents online including video and media files

The Professional Edition annual subscription provides you with full access to the most recent version of the software during your subscription. As an annual subscription, the upfront cost is much lower than with typical enterprise software models that include a high upfront cost plus an annual maintenance fee. The Professional Edition subscription model allows you to renew or opt out of your subscription and migrate to the free Community Edition at the end of each subscription period, providing you with more flexibility than with enterprise software pricing models.

A Professional Edition subscription is $1,999 per year per instance. An instance is one copy of DotNetNuke running on one Microsoft IIS Server. A single instance of DotNetNuke can run an unlimited number of portals, each of which can be a separate domain. For server farms supporting a single website, each IIS Server in the farm will be running at least one instance of DotNetNuke. Software license keys and access to download the Professional Edition through the DotNetNuke Support Network will be sent via email upon acceptance and processing of your order.
