Q:  Greetings - We are looking to upgrade our core from 4.3.5 to 5.X but have some questions/concerns about the new event module. First, we would like to have the ability to link a document (i.e. an agenda) to an event as part of the "add new event" functionality. Perhaps that could be accomplished by simply adding a text box and pasting in the link from DMX, or via a browse functionality (similar to Microsoft) or via selecting a category (a DMX document folder) and just linking to that DMX document folder. Can you tell me if this is something that can be done right out of the box as part of the configuration, or is this something you can quickly do for us, or is this something we can do by getting the source of the add new event form entry? Secondly, I am wondering if there is any support for room reservations as part of the "add new event" functionality. Lastly, is there any support for applying an event on the parent calendar down to the appropriate child calendars? Likewise, we would also need functionality that allows a child calendar event to be applied to the parent calendar (so it goes both ways). The alternative to this would be to have just one calendar but have event/category check boxes which allows the user to check all of the applicable categories when adding events. Then we would simply use the categories as filters when we just want to see a specific category's events. I see you have a calendar with a categories section as well as a "display all" drop down. I was unable to see your online demo but I'm wondering if this meets our needs? Please let us know if what we want to implement is doable and if there are difficulties or challenges with this functionality.
A:  Hi, 1, yes, you can do that via Custom Properties. 2. No room reservation feature. 3. I am not clear about your question but Yes, it does support Sub Calendars, which means you can share events across parant/child calendars. Thanks

Q:  How are subdomains handled? Is students.aapg.org a different domain from www.aapg.org as far as your module is concerned? Also, if a single DNN installation has parent portals using different domains, do we need licenses for all of them or only for that one DNN installation? Thanks! BTW, great sounding module!
A:  Hi, If it is at the same DNN installation, you just need to get one standard edition license. Thanks.

Q:  Thanks for your response! It appears to be working. I am testing functionality using the trial copy. This module is terrific! I tried the import feature which works great, however, I now cannot continue testing since it is limited to 10 entries. I deleted the module instance and added a new one in hopes of resetting it to 10 for testing purposes only. That did not work. Is there any way to reset to finish testing?

Q:  I am hoping to purchase this module due to the abililty to add attachments. I see the administrator can upload attachments. However, when logged in as a registered user, I cannot upload attachments, only point to whatever is on the server. Am I missing a setting to allowed registered users to upload files to a folder on the server?
A:  Hi, It is due to DNN permission setting. Just go to Admin >> File Manager, and allow registered users to access the folders below. Thank you.

Q:  I posted a question a last week about whether users could see who has registered for an event. You replied that this feature would be in the next release soemtime around November 8th. Is the new release now available? Also, will I be able to customize a url for users in the rsvp list that will link to the third party profile module I use? Thanks.
A:  Hi, Yes, the module is ready, but we are finalizing the documentation before it is released before the next Monday. Currently it can only link to Smart-Thinker profile page for the attendee list. Thanks.

Q:  Hi there, 1) I have an earlier version (enterprise 2.1) and am wondering how much this updated version will now cost me? 2) Can one user register for several events (weeklong workshops) and have a collective itinerary rather than a heap of separate emails telling them what they are registered for? A:  1), There is no discount setup for v2.1, but please contact support@invenmanager.com for this matter. 2.) No, currently it sent out emails on a per registration basis. Thanks

Q:  The module looks professional. Just one feature I'm looking for which I'm not sure if the module takes care. Do u prevent event created by User A from editing by User B (both are registered users, non admin who logged on to the DNN portal) ?
A:  Hi, yes, of course, events entered by User A can ONLY be edited by Admin user and User A.

Q:  Hey guys - terrific module. Quicky question - when I add a lot of text to my description it ALL shows on the page I display the satellite module. Is there any way to restrict the number of lines or words of the description that are displayed with the satellite module? Thanks!
A:  If you are using the same template, it should also restrict the number of lines for the description. Please also note there are two tokens: [DESCRIPTION], and [FULLDESCRIPTION] Please refer to the user guide on this. Thanks.

Q:  I don't completely understand the licencing structure of this module. I need a calendar module for my new web site, and I have about 10 authors who will be contributing to the web site content, who are from the various departments within this company. But I'm not sure what constitutes a user according to this license. Could you please help me evaluate this product better?
A:  Hi, As explained on the Purchase page at www.invenmanager.com, http://www.invenmanager.com/Purchase/tabid/528/Default.aspx The standard license allows you to activate it on one DNN installation whereas Enterprice edition allows you install up to 100 DNN installations. But it does not limit number of users you have on each portal. so it is a good deal for you. Thanks.

Q:  Second question :) We want registered users to be able to submit an event, but the page where they do this includes several settings that will be confusing to a non-DNN administrator -- such as all of the Flash settings, etc. We also only want Admins to be able to enable registration -- not a user. Is there a simpler way that we're missing for regular users who are not familiar with DNN or this module to just submit an event for approval? Thanks.
A:  Hi, Normal user submitting an event does not need to enter Flash Settings, not sure what you are refering to. However, anyone who can create an event are able to set event registration. Unless you turn it off for the module, then Admin user also cannot set as well. Please follow up with more questions on Invenmanager.com online forum at the Support page. Thank you.

Q:  Our client needs a calendar whereby the events can be displayed by state (i.e.: show Florida events only). I see in the demo that we can add categories and custom pull-downs, but they don't seem to be built for what we need. I then read about sub-calendars. We don't see where these are explained—what are they, where do we create them. It seems if we go this route, the pull-down "Display All" would then list our individual state calendars.
A:  Yes, you can filter by Sub Calendars, as well as Categories. You can create one calendar for each state, and then have a main calendar to display all events (pull from all states). From the main calendar, you can filter by Sub-calendar, which is your state actually. Or you can create one category for each state, and then filter by category, which is state. Many ways you can do this, the new update also comes with a Search module allows you to filter by sub calendar, categories, and also by Custom properties. Thanks

Q:  I believe event created by user A can be edited by User B (both have role to create event) ? Anyway to prevent this ? As we need to allow many staff to create their own events and they should not "disturb" others events.
A:  if User A is a normal user (but allowed to create event), he cannot edit user B's event. Unless, User A is given Edit permission to the module. Thanks.

Q:  I'm interested on Event Calendar and Registration 3.0. Is it compatible with sql svr 2000? Same question regarding Express edition of sql 2005. Thank you!
A:  Yes, so long as it supports DNN 4.7 and above...

Q:  How can we display a list of registrants for each event - on the event detail page? People want to know who else is coming - and who came to a previous event. Ideally, the list would be linked to the (smart-thinker) UserProfile page by filtering for a (dnn) UserID
A:  This is a feature we are developing right now. :)

Q:  I have downloaded the demo of the event calendar and registeration. I tried the feature of adding a category and setting the calendar to show only certain categories for certain users. This feature works on the calendar, but i cannot get it to work on a satellite calendar. Is there a way this can work?
A:  Yes, we are working on this to have it apply to the satellite module as well. This will be a free update to current v3.0 users.

Q:  Do potential event regitrants have to be members before they can register for an event? Can one person register multple attendees
A:  Hi, You have to option to allow anonymous user to register, or restrict to only members can register. And you also have the option to allow multiple attendees, or restrict to only one attendee. So YES to both of your questions and you have the options to choose.

Q:  Is there any way to do an slient HTTP post so that attendees can be dynamically added to distribution lists on services like Constant Contact and/or iContact?
A:  We need more study on this, currently it does not support such features. Thanks.

Q:  Hello, one of the Payment Methodes is Authorize.net which only accepts USD currency, as the module in DNN says, otherwise we have no experience with Authorize.net at all. I just assume that once we use it, it will allow the user to also pay with creditcard, and we must not add SSL to our page, something like PayFlow, right? Our customer will JUST pay with Euros. What is your solution for this issue: EURO Payments with all creditcards like PayFlow? And what about people who want to get an invoce and pay later? - Is it possible to set the default view to listview? Thanks for your answer. Regards, Gita Greiner

Q:  We are very interested in the enterprise version of Event Calendar and Registration. Is it at all possible to limit the registration feature by portal? It would be great if you could turn the registration feature on or off by portal. Also, it would be more flexible to have the paypal account by event instead of by module. This would allow for payment processing for multiple organizations or users under the same calendar. Is this possible or could it be modified to do this?
A:  Hi, For each event, you can configure if it is available for registration or not. (not by portal) But for each module, you can turn the Registration feature off as well. Yes, we will add this feature to allow user to specify the PayPal account for each event, it will use the paypal account in the settings by default though. Thanks.

Q:  Can a user register more than one attendee and list their name(s)/email(s) etc? For example, a member registers for an event and wants to list who will be attending rather than just selecting the number of tickets.
A:  A user can register more than one attendees. but he cannot list who will be attending. ( I assume you mean the list of participants who already registered for this event).

Q:  CAn you imbed other modules or HTML into an event? I want to use your module to list events - but then have a "BUY NOW" paypal module / button instead of your registration forms. thanks.
A:  Hi, You can add Html to the event description. So you can copy and paste the Html codes for the Buy Now button and paste into the description field, and when you display the event detail, the button will be shown. Theoratically it should work. Thanks.

Q:  Hi Great application, congratulations. Question: Can I have unlimited number of users who submit and edit their events including registration or is it only for one user to create an event and registration? If your answer is yes, the following questions come up: - Is is possible for the administrator to accept whether or not an event is being published? - Can I include a payment for setting up each event so users will have to pay before setting up an event? A:  Hi, 1. Yes, you can have unlimited number of users to submit and edit their events (you can specify a user role, such as Event poster to allow them to post events) 2. Yes, you can restrict cetain roles to post events but need approval to get published. 3. we only handles event registration and payment. but you can restrict only certain roles to be able to post events. it does not charge for posting of events. Q:  Hi, not sure your reg process will work for me. Is it possible that i set up an event and then use custom SQL to register users to that event?
A:  I am sorry, no.

Q:  Hi, so if I want someone to register for a recurring event and be registered for ALL occurances.. how would your software do that?
A:  We do have a Bulk Registration, in which user can select more than one event and register it altogether, but the user still need to pay for each event individually. So I would say it does not support this feature. I suggest you to get a copy and test it out if you think it maybe working for you. Thanks.

Q:  THIS LOOKS FANTASTIC!... But one Issue, While we do want to show pricing for events and etc, we do NOT want to take payments online. Is there a way just to disable the paypal feature and just let our users register for the pevent? 2) Can this Events module email someone when a user registers(preferably the web admin)?
A:  Hi, thanks. 1. Yes, you can just uncheck the option "Accept Online Payments" at the Main Settings. 2. Yes, you can supply an email at the Main Settings to have a notification whenever someone registers a event. Get a copy and try it out now! :) Thanks.

Q:  Hi, we are interested in Event Calendar & Registration for a project we are currently working on, we need yo know a few things to decide if your product suits our needs. We need to have 2 different parameters to publish events for our client. Any given registered user can post a new event in the event section to be displayed in the event section free of charge (normal procedure) However our client needs an option to show events on the site's homepage, and actually CHARGE for showing events on the homepage via Paypal. A:  Hi, Yes, you can allow registered users to post events. and have them displayed on the home page. But it does not handle the charging for displaying on home page. Q:  Hi, can you just place a "register" link on a web page for an event instead of having to place the whole event and description? - How optomised is your events for search engines?. Also how can one display a red/green indicator and a X/XX number to tell people how many places are left?

Q:  Can recurring events be setup at non-standard intervals? i.e. One week event is on a saturday, then next week on a wednesday then on a sunday.. etc.
A:  There are many ways you can setup recurring events, basically it is similar to how you setup events using MS Outlook. But I don't think you described is considered a recurring event, unless they happens every # of days. Thanks.

Q:  Hi, A couple of questions. Can I use this to set up a "main event" with sub events and users only have to register for main event and be auto registered for others? I sell events that require prior training days. I would also like the sub-events to be registerable separately... i.e if someone just want to come for the training day they can do.... and this would be at a different price..... I also have events that happen over weeks (each saturday) and would like users to be able to register for the whole event... or just for one saturday.... if there is space available..... I would also like to be able to set up a link to "last minute deals" on the front of my page where events/sub events are NOT full and are occuring within X days. Each event calendar would represent one location, I will have more than one location to represent all availability would I need to set up a main calendar with sub calendars? Las one - I want to provide the calendar to my other brands (domains) to book differnt types of events (but using the same location - hence I want only one version of calendar) is this possible? How? - Please don't refer me to your website.. It is blocked behind my current firewall. Thanks
A:  Can I suggest you to create one event with different options (with different price)? so you have an option for 2 days, another option for 1 day. your second question, it is not possible to have the same location to display across different domains. but you can use the same version of the module, on the same DNN database, for different domains. A:  It does not restrict user registering for the same time slot. A workaround solution will be, you create a Custom Property called Class type, and you only have one event, but they need to select one class type from the drop down list. And you can set to only allow one user register once for the event. Thanks.

Q:  I'm building a site for a doctors office that needs to be able to book hour long patients in a 30 min staggered way (for example: 1:00 - 2:00 & 1:30 -2:30). They would also like to allow these patients to select their appointment time and pay using PayPal. It seems from the screen shots and description that this may be the ideal module, but I have a few questions: Can we add a recurring event (Monday 9:00 - 10:00 with one seat available, for example) that is independent from the following Monday at 9:00, meaning one customer can chose a specific Monday time slot and leave the following Monday slot available to a different customer? This would make it easier for the doctors to add events without making them unique events (read: adding 20 events every day forever). Can we stagger the event (appointment) time slots as described above? Can we have as many as 20 events every day? Ultimately, do you believe that this module is well suited for this type of daily, recurring appointment time slots use?

Q:  We are looking to purchase your product and would like to point out a few localization issues we have (we are in Australia):- 1. Dates all display as USA format (m/d/yyyy), we require (d/m/yyyy) - this should be configurable 2. No AUD$ selection of payment currency (see previous post) 3. We do not have the same credit cards you do, eg no Discover card, and we also do not accept Amex due to high fees, etc. Accepted Credit/Debit Card icons displayed in payment module should be configurable. Other comments:- 1. If an event start date is entered, auto change the end date on lost focus to be the same as the start date 2. If you accidently don't add a Registration Settings/Registration Type, then later try to view the event, you get a whole heap of null reference exception error messages. Either enforce validation, or do more exception handling.
A:  1. We have many users from Australia and we event customied Eway for them. The date format is determined by your portal configuration. The module is flexible to display in different format. 2. If you click on the the little help icon at the Payment Currency at the Main Settings, it says: You can manage the currency listing from Host >> List >> Currencies. 3. currently the credit card images are not configurable. It will be flexible enough for user to configure in future release. For v3.0, if you wann to hide some icons, you just replace that icon with a blank image at /desktopmodules/eventscalendar/images. (it is a little manual work for this work around) Other comments: 1. Yes, currently it works this way, if you mouse click on start date, and then click on end date, it will change. 2. Q:  I use the core DNN Events module, and I have three sub-calendar modules on my site. If I use your Events module, does it have the capability to make all the core DNN Events module turn into your Calendar module and import the data as well? Like you use with your Content Manager module using the import function (which is awesome, BTW). I do not want to go through each page I have a DNN Events module on and swap it out and try to manually import data. Thanks!
A:  Mark, Yes, it supports sub calendars. Yes, it can import from Default DNN Events, but it only supports the latest DNN events version 5.0.1. You must upgrade to this one if you are using an older version.

Q:  My client needs to be able to change the dates so they are displayed in an as we use them in the UK e.g. 25th of November is 25/11/09 rather than the USA version which would be 11/25/09. As you can imagine it becomes confusing when looking at dates like 5th June, where we woulod have 5/6/09 and in the USA it would be 6/5/09 (unless we can make this configuration the module won't meet our needs). A:  Rob, Of course you can, and you do not even need to set any configuration, because it is based on your Locale (the language) you set for your website. We have many users from UK, and they can display UK format. A:  yes, you can. but it is not based on per event. rather you can create a category with viewable permission. if you set the event belongs to that category, so that event is vsible to the roles set for that category only.

A:  I think you asked this question before? Version 3 will be available in couple of days, but it will be a different type in licensing. It now becomes two modules: Events Calendar, Events Calendar & Registration. So for those users does not require Registration feature, they can go for the basic one.

Q:  Does your event module support posting of new events by anonymous users? What I'm looking for is to allow anonymous users to post events and have those events approved by an admin once they're submitted. Anonymous users wouldn't have the ability to edit events - just to add. If this is possible, is there a demo of this feature?
A:  It does not allow anonymous user to post events. But it allows Registered user (or any other roles) to post events, and you can have Admin user apporove it before it is published. If that's okay for you, you can get a copy at www.invenmanager.com to test it out.

Q:  The way I've seen it (and as it's been requested of me), there are two roles to be considered: 1) the site administor, usually an IT person resonsible for site maintenance, operations, security, roles, health, infrastructure and 2) people within an organization responsible departmental functions like events planning. In my cases, the functionality of the Events Module has belonged to a Marketing or Promotions department... and required much control of the functions of the module itself without the technical pieces. For discussion, we'll call them "Event Administrators". So, anything related to the events themselves should be made available to the Event Administrator, and should not fall into the realm of the site admin at all. Some of these things are currently only found under Main Settings. Such examples include: (In general how the category looks and is displayed) (All default settings for the calendar) (All notification settings and fields) (All display settings) Default to List View Allow Multiple Categories Title Length in Calendar View Title Length in Tool Tip Event Registration and Payment section - This section definitely needs to be moved out. The Event Administrator needs to be in control of the accounts into which money flows. It would not be the responsibility of the site administrator to enter (or even see) this information. Custom Fields - These are fields that "communicate" to end customers during a registration process (i.e. are designed to interact directly with the customer), and are used to collect information to be used by the Event Administrator (rather than the site administrator), and can change often. Again, not part of a site admin function but a marketing one. The above also applies to all of the "Email Notification" fields, which should be under the control of the Event Administrator. All display settings. Having said all this, are are some settings that should not be made available to the Event Administ

A:  it depends on your event settings. (An option: Member only) you can choose to allow anonymous users to register or allow only members (registered users) to register for the event.

Q:  I need a module where people can choose to attend free webinars on certain dates, but not if there's less than 5 viewers. Does your module 1) show people how many participants have chosen to be at an event? 2) It be a free event and 3) there is a max participants but is there a minimum participants option?
A:  1) Yes, it can show # of participants, but you need to add the token to the template, please refer to user manual. 2) it supports free event 3) there is a max participants limit but no minimum participants, and I am not sure how you want to implement minimum participants.

Assuming each instance of the calendar is filtered so that events are not visible accross the pages/modules. 3. How many additional custom fields can be there and can validation/ field type be specified? 4. How is the amount payable for additional participants calculated? 5. Three questions I couldn't find definitive answers to: (1) some of our events will require registration via our webinar vendor (gotowebinar.com) - can this support redirecting to another URL for registration and/or integration with gotowebinar.com? Q:  We would like to use this module with a two tier pricing scheme. The normal price would be charged to non-members (who are not registered on the dnn portal) and a discounted price for members who are. Is this possible with your module? Thanks very much for your help in advance.
A:  Yes. It can support different type of pricing. However, currently the user needs to select which pricing to register. it means the user has to decide which pricing to register for that event. We will improve the module so that only authorized user roles can see special pricing. Thanks.

Q:  I am very interested in your product. You seem to have a lot of needed features. I have downloaded the trial but I want to ask a couple of questions before I purchase it. First, I would need to use it so that registered users can register for an event. This event will only have one available spot. The admin then has to validate the user and possibly the payment. Once everything is good, the admin validates the user and now the event is full. When the event becomes full, can it change to a different color, maybe red? I am really using this as a sudo booking module. Also, can two events on the same day overlap? That is all of the questions for now. If the above can be done, I will purchase the module tomorrow. Q:  Is it possible to require the user to complete certain or all fields when they register for an event including optional fields we have added?
A:  Yes, absolutely. When you create the custom fields, you are free to determine whether the field is required or not, include default value, and validation formula and so on... Thanks.

Q:  Can version 2.5 require users who wish to enroll in an event to be a member of a specific DNN Role? For example, we wish to limit some workshops to registered website users who have been assigned to an Employer Role. Of course, we will control who get's assigned to that Role vs. the user assigning themselves to that role. Is that possible?
A:  You can put those events under one category. and then control the permission for the category only Employer Role can view the events of that category. In this case, only Employer Role can see and register for the events.

Q:  does this module support coupon codes? Can you export the email addresses from this module? Can you print a list of registered attendees of each event? Am I able to have a "Shipping Method" option where it costs $5.00 to ship the tickets and Free to pick them up. This I really need. Thanks.
